Raul A. Gonzalez was born on March 20, 1940. Raul grew up in Weslaco, Texas, Mexico near the Rio Grande. As a child Raul and worked in the fields picking cabbage, onions, tomatoes, and cotton. Despite him working on a farm and being in poverty, his mother believed education was very important. Raul wouldn’t have good work ethic or a good education if it weren't for his mother and working on the farm.
Raul went on to do many more things after collage. In being the first Hispanic member of the court, Raul changed Texas and the U.S.A by showing others that they can do what he did. Rual is married and has four children- Celeste, Jamie, Marco, and Sonia.
Raul’s qualities ,such as a good work ethic, are what gave him success in judicial court and made him stand out. If we put forward qualities such as Raul’s, we too can become as successful as Raul A. Gonzalez.
Raul A. Gonzalez paved the way for hispanics in that they can do what they set their mind too-even if that's becoming the first hispanic member of the court. He served from 1984 until the end of 1998 and he and his legacy still live on today.
